IronSight gives you several ways to find the jobs you need, whether you're checking today's work, tracking a job in progress, or looking up a job from months ago. This guide covers every search tool on the Jobs tab, plus finding jobs in the mobile app.
Search tools at a glance
Quickest way to find one job: type its job number in the Start typing to filter by... bar. It finds the job whatever bucket you're in.
Job Groups
Job Groups, also called buckets, sort your jobs by where they are in the job lifecycle: Request → Schedule → Complete → Approve. Each group shows only the statuses for that stage, so you only see the jobs you need to act on.
To expand or collapse the panel: click > to show the group names, or < to show only the icons and give yourself more room.
Good to know:
- New users start in the Queued group.
- Groups are the same for everyone, and you can't create your own. To save a custom view, use Saved filters.
- Date ranges carry across groups. A date range set in Queued also applies to Dispatched, and one set in Completed also applies to Pending Approval, Rejected, Approved, and Canceled.
Tips for a smooth day:
- Start in Queued to review new requests.
- Check Dispatched to track work in progress.
- Review Pending Approval to keep billing moving.
Filter your job list
Filters narrow your list to the jobs that match what you pick, like a location, requester, or resource type. Filters apply across all Job Groups, so you can click through each group and see only matching jobs.
To add a filter:
- On the Jobs tab, click the Start typing to filter by... bar at the top.
- Choose the field you want to filter by.
- Choose one or more values.
Each filter shows as a chip in the bar. To add another filter, click the bar again. To change or remove a filter, click its chip.
Auto-complete filters
Start typing, and IronSight suggests matching filters, so you don't need to know exactly which field to pick.
- Click into the Start typing to filter by... bar.
- Type part of a name or number, like a company, person, location, or job number.
- Check the field label on each suggestion, such as Service Provider or Requester, so you pick the right one.
- Select the suggestion. The filter is applied right away.
Auto-complete suggests: Job Number, Division, Requester, Resource type, Activity, Service Provider, Location, and Tags.
Good to know:
- Auto-complete applies one filter at a time. To combine filters, like a resource type and a requester, choose each field from the regular filter list.
- Searching a job number finds that job whatever bucket you're in, even if it's outside the current date range. If the job doesn't exist, you'll see a message.
- Searching a location shows the jobs at that location.
All Results
All Results is the bucket that brings every job into one list, whatever its status, so you don't have to click through each group. It's especially useful with a filter applied, since you'll see every matching job at once.
- In the Job Groups panel, click All Results.
- Apply filters to narrow the list, like a location or requester (optional).
Date ranges
Use a date range to look at a specific time period.
- Click the date range in the filter bar.
- Choose a preset, like Today, 1 week, or 1 month, or pick dates on the calendar.
- Choose which date to use, such as Planned Start or Completed.
Good to know:
- You can look back up to one year.
- Choosing Completed shows only completed jobs, since only those have a completed date.
Sort your jobs
Change the order of jobs within a bucket, such as newest first or by job number.
- Click Sort by.
- Choose an option:
Saved filters
Save the filters you use most, so you can load them with one click.
To save a filter:
- Apply the filters you want.
- Click the Save filters icon next to the Start typing to filter by... bar.
- Enter a name, like North Field Hauls, and click Save.
To use a saved filter: click its name in the tabs across the top of the Jobs page.
Act on your results
Once you've found the jobs you need, check the box next to each one, then click Update [number] jobs to make changes to all of them at once, such as adding them to a batch or archiving them. See Archiving Jobs and Reviewing and Billing Completed Work for the steps.
Find jobs in the mobile app
Job groups on mobile: the Jobs screen sorts your work into groups, like Today, Future, and Requested by me. For what each group means, see Starting and Completing Your Jobs in the Field Worker Guide.
Admins also see groups for managing jobs, such as Queue, Dispatched, Pending approval, Rejected, and Approved.
To search inside a group: tap the group, then type in the search box at the top.
Saved filters on mobile
- Scroll to the bottom of the Jobs screen and find Saved Filters.
- Tap Add Saved Filter.
- Choose your filters: Sort, Date range, Priority, Divisions, Resource types, Service providers, Job status, Approval status, and Locations.
- To filter by one of the lists, tap it, tap Clear to remove the current selections, check the ones you want, and tap Save.
- Tap Save and Name Filter, enter a name, and tap Save.
To use a saved filter on mobile: scroll to Saved Filters at the bottom of the Jobs screen and tap its name.
FAQ
Can I make my own Job Groups?
No, but you can create saved filters and move through the groups with those filters applied.
Does everyone see the same groups?
Yes. Groups are the same for everyone in IronSight.
Why can't I see a job I'm looking for?
The quickest way is to type the job number in the Start typing to filter by... bar. It finds the job whatever bucket you're in. Otherwise, check your filters and date range, since Completed and later buckets only show the past 3 months by default.
Why do some groups include more than one status?
Because those statuses are the same stage of work. For example, Dispatched includes scheduled, active, and paused jobs, since they're all assigned but not yet finished.
