No signal? No problem. IronSight keeps working when you're out of service. Your changes save on your phone and upload automatically once you're back in range.
Before you head out
- Go on duty while you have good service, such as at home or in the shop.
- Check your jobs list to make sure all your jobs have fully loaded.
- Minimize the app to keep everything you just loaded.
When you log in, IronSight loads everything you need for the day: your jobs, forms, locations, resources, inventory, and more.
Do's and don'ts
| ✅ Do | ❌ Don't |
|---|---|
| Keep working when you lose signal. Start jobs, add details, fill out forms, and complete jobs as usual | Don't log in while you're out of service. Your jobs won't load |
| Minimize the app when you're not using it | Don't close or force-quit the app. Unsynced changes could be lost |
| Keep your phone charged | Don't turn off your phone or let the battery die while changes are waiting to sync |
| Wait for the sync to finish once you're back in service | Don't log out until everything has synced |
How to minimize the app
iPhone: swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to go to your home screen, or lock your phone. Don't swipe IronSight up and away in the app switcher, since that closes it.
Android: tap the home button (the circle) at the bottom of the screen, or lock your phone. If your phone uses gesture navigation, swipe up from the bottom edge instead. To get back, open your recent apps and tap IronSight.
Syncing your changes
When you're out of service, IronSight saves your changes on your phone. You'll see a banner that says "Some of your updates have not been sent yet." Once you're back in service, your changes upload automatically. Sometimes it's instant, and sometimes it takes a little while if service is weak.
To check or send your updates:
- Tap View on the banner. The Pending updates screen lists each job with changes waiting, such as photos or form submissions.
- Tap Try now to send them.
- Wait until you see "You're good to go!", then tap Dismiss.
Until you see "You're good to go!", don't close the app. As the Pending updates screen says, closing (swiping up) the app can cause changes that haven't synced to be lost.
Photos and attachments
If you add a photo or file while you're out of service, you'll see "Attachments will upload later." Tap Ok and keep working. Your attachments upload automatically once you're back in service.
Good to know: Large attachments need a stronger connection to upload. If a photo or file is still waiting after you're back in service, try moving to an area with better signal, or connect to Wi-Fi.
Why does my phone show a job as complete, but the office doesn't? Your update is probably still waiting to sync. Once you're back in service, it will upload.
Seeing blank dropdowns or "unknown" on jobs?
If some data didn't finish loading, you might see:
- Empty dropdowns when creating a job or filling out a form
- "Unknown" in place of a location, division, resource, or user
Don't log out. Get to better service, and IronSight will try loading the data again automatically. If jobs or forms didn't load, you'll see a banner, and the app will retry once you have better service.
Not sure if you have good enough service?
Having enough signal to call or text doesn't mean you have enough internet for IronSight. To check:
- Open your phone's web browser.
- Go to a website you've never visited before. Sites you use often can load from memory even without service.
- If it loads, IronSight will too. If it doesn't, find better service before logging in.
Do I need to log out at the end of the day?
No. Your IronSight login lasts until you log out, and staying logged in is recommended. Logging out erases your loaded data from your phone, so you'll need good service to load it all again next time. Only log out if you won't be using IronSight for a while.
